A Proud Achievement by Dentforce: Third Place in the Interfaculty Futsal Tournament

Organized through the collaboration of the Near East University Health, Culture and Sports Directorate and the Faculty of Sports Sciences Department of Recreation, the Interfaculty Futsal Tournament brought great excitement to the campus. Representing the Faculty of Dentistry, Dentforce delivered an impressive performance throughout the tournament and made our faculty proud by finishing in third place among sixteen competing teams.

Dentforce made a strong start to the tournament by defeating the Faculty of Medicine 6-1 in the opening match. Building on this remarkable beginning, our team continued its successful run in the quarter-finals with a dominant 4-0 victory over the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, securing a place in the semi-finals. With its determination, discipline, and strong team coordination on the court, Dentforce represented our faculty in the best possible way from the very beginning of the tournament.

In the semi-final, Dentforce faced the Faculty of Sports Sciences and displayed great determination in a fast-paced and highly competitive match. Although the game ended in a 4-3 win for the opposing team, our players earned great appreciation for their fighting spirit and team performance. In the third-place match, the Faculty of Dentistry faced the Faculty of Law and secured a 3-2 victory in a closely contested game, completing the tournament in third place.

On the final day of the tournament, held at the RA25 Sports Hall, students and academic staff filled the stands and followed the matches with great enthusiasm. In the first game of the day, Dentforce took to the court for the third-place match and claimed an important victory through determination and teamwork. In the championship match, the Faculty of Sports Sciences defeated the Faculty of Pharmacy 4-3 to become the winner of the tournament.

The Faculty of Dentistry futsal team consisted of Sanjar Gurbanov, Egemen Özbiçer, Abdullah Öztürk, İbrahim Uygur, Mohamad Alkasoom, Ege Erdoğan, Aygün Manga, Ali Abdulrahman, and Ahmet Kayhan. We also extend our sincere thanks to Assist. Prof. Dr. Abdullah Sebai and our doctoral student Dr. Mert Nihat Ecevit for their valuable support to the team throughout the tournament.

At the award ceremony held after the tournament, trophies and medals were presented to the top-ranked teams by Prof. Dr. Dudu Özkum Yavuz, Dean of Students of Near East University; Prof. Dr. Mehtap Tiryakioğlu, Dean of the Faculty of Sports Sciences; Prof. Dr. İhsan Çalış, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy; and Prof. Dr. Sevcan Kurtulmuş Yılmaz, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry.

Representing our faculty with pride, Dentforce stood out throughout the tournament not only for its athletic performance but also for its team spirit, solidarity, and determination. The dedicated efforts of our students on the court once again demonstrated that, alongside academic development, social, cultural, and sporting participation are also strongly encouraged within our faculty.
