Ayşe Nil Altay was born in  Ankara at 1963.  In 1980 she graduated from TED Ankara College and in 1986 from Hacettepe University Faculty of Dentistry. In the same year, she started to PhD education at Pedodontics in Hacettepe University  Health Science Instıtue and earned her PhD degree in 1991 with the research topic “Comparative research of the bond strength of type II glass ionomer cements to primary tooth enamel and dentin.”.

In 1993 she became an Assistant Professor degree at   Hacettepe University, Faculty of Dentistry. In 1995  she took her Associate Professor degree. In 2003 she was promoted to a Professor position at the same University.

She served as Deputy Dean at Hacettepe University Faculty of Dentistry between 2003-2009, Head of the Department of Pedodontics between 2004-2007, and Member of the Strategic Planning Board of Hacettepe University. She retired from the university in 2011.

Between 2013 and 2019, she worked as a visiting professor at Oman Dental College in the Sultanate of Oman. Between 2014 and 2016, she served as a Board Member and general secretary of the International Association of Dental Traumatology (IADT). She served as the President of the 18th World Dental Traumatology Congress in 2014. She served as Dean of Antalya Bilim University Faculty of Dentistry between March 2021 and August 2022. She has been working part-time at Near East University since November 2022.

Many articles in national and international indexed journals; Prof. gave speeches and presentations at congresses and symposiums. Dr. A.Nil Altay is married and the mother of 2 children.
