Ayşem Aktu was born in 1998 in Famagusta. She completed her undergraduate education at the Near East University Faculty of Dentistry and graduated in 2021. Following her graduation, she began her doctoral studies at the same institution and was awarded her PhD degree in 2024.

During her doctoral studies, she focused on composite resin materials, which play a significant role in restorative dentistry. Her doctoral thesis, titled “The Effect of Polishing Systems on the Surface Roughness and Color Stability of Aged and Stained Bulk-Fill Composite Resins,” investigated the impact of different polishing systems on the surface characteristics and aesthetic performance of these materials. This study provides valuable scientific data regarding the long-term clinical success and aesthetic stability of restorative materials.

As of January 2025, Dr. Aktu has been working as an Assistant Professor at the Near East University Faculty of Dentistry. She continues her academic career by integrating education, research, and clinical practice in the field of restorative dentistry. Her research interests include composite resins, surface roughness, color stability, dental material science, and aesthetic restorative approaches.
