Prof. Dr. Tamer Yılmaz was born on December 20, 1947, in Bilecik. After completing his primary, middle, and high school education in Ankara, he enrolled in the Biology Department of the Faculty of Science at Hacettepe University. He completed his master's program in 1972. In 1974, he joined the Department of Basic Medical Sciences at the Faculty of Dentistry, Ankara University, as a research assistant in biochemistry. In 1978, he defended his thesis on "Investigation of Enzymes Hydrolyzing Bacterial Plaque Polymers" and obtained the title of Doctor of Biochemistry.

Yılmaz became an Associate Professor in 1991 and a Professor in 2002. He served as a faculty member at the same institution until 2014. Since its establishment in 2007, he has been responsible for the biochemistry education at the Faculty of Dentistry at Near East University in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, initially as a part-time lecturer and later as a full-time faculty member from 2014 onwards. Currently, he holds the positions of Head of the Department of Basic Sciences and Professor of Biochemistry at the same institution. Additionally, he teaches biochemistry courses at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Faculty of Nursing of the same university.

Prof. Dr. Tamer Yılmaz is a member of the "Near East University Scientific Research Ethics Committee" and the vice president of the "Local Ethics Committee for Animal Experiments." He has numerous articles published in national and international indexed journals. Yılmaz has authored three books: "Organic Structure in Living Organisms," "Oral and Dental Biochemistry," and "Tissue Biochemistry," the latter being the first publication of its kind in Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Prof. Dr. Tamer Yılmaz is married and the father of three children.
