At this meaningful ceremony, where the 2025–2026 Academic Year graduates took their first step into the profession, the students who achieved the highest scores throughout the year and the champion collegium were announced. The awards were presented by the Vice Deans of Near East University Faculty of Dentistry, Prof. Dr. Sevcan Kurtulmuş Yılmaz and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özay Önöral.
Collegium Dentalis supports students’ multidimensional development
The Collegium Dentalis system, implemented at the Faculty of Dentistry to strengthen students’ sense of belonging, support academic achievement, increase social and cultural participation, and build a strong team spirit within the faculty, evaluates students by assigning points for their achievements and contributions in different areas throughout the year.
Within the scope of the system, students earn points not only for their academic achievements in theoretical and practical courses, but also for their active participation in classes, attendance, and contributions to social, cultural, sports-related, and scientific activities. In terms of academic achievement, students who ranked in the top three in end-of-block examinations, preclinical assignments, and clinical case reports during the academic year, as well as students who ranked in the top five in theoretical and practical final examinations, received points. Students who actively participated in classes and those who completed the academic year without any absenteeism were also included in the Collegium Dentalis scoring system.
Students’ contributions to faculty and university life throughout the year also played an important role in the Collegium Dentalis evaluation. The activities of the Sustainability Club and Music Club, established at our university under the leadership of our students, as well as the active roles taken by our students in these clubs, were among the contributions reflected in the scoring. In addition, the work of students serving within NCADS, general knowledge competitions, puzzle competitions, chess tournaments, e-sports tournaments, faculty volleyball tournaments, and indoor football activities organized within the faculty were also included in the evaluation process.
Sports achievements were another strong component of the Collegium Dentalis system. Students who participated in interfaculty basketball, futsal, volleyball, bowling, and darts tournaments represented the faculty and earned points for their collegia. Our faculty became the champion of the interfaculty futsal tournament, while our students also represented the university in interuniversity bowling and billiards tournaments as members of the university teams. Achieving third place in billiards and championship in bowling became an important source of pride for our faculty.
Activities supporting students’ scientific and professional development also formed an important component of the system. Students who took part as speakers in the Fall and Spring Symposia held at the Faculty of Dentistry were included in the Collegium Dentalis scoring system through their scientific presentation skills and academic contributions. In addition, groups that demonstrated high achievement in poster presentations and oral presentations within the scope of the Research Techniques and Presentation course also earned points and contributed to their collegia.
