Collegium Dentalis Takes Action for Sustainable Development Goals!

At Near East University Faculty of Dentistry, we are taking the Collegium Dentalis system to the next level by integrating academic development with social responsibility. This year, our students will actively contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by initiating impactful projects.

What Are the Sustainable Development Goals?

Established by the United Nations in 2015, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) aim to eliminate inequalities, promote environmental sustainability, and improve global living conditions. These 17 goals serve as a global roadmap to ensure economic, social, and environmental well-being. Our faculty encourages students not only to become successful dentists but also to develop awareness and take responsibility for global issues.

Within Collegium Dentalis, the four Collegiums will develop projects aligned with their selected SDGs and conduct various activities until April 30, 2025. These initiatives will be evaluated by the Quality and Accreditation Coordination Board, where each Collegium will present their efforts and impact.

Collegiums and Their Chosen Sustainable Development Goals:

  • Nova – Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3)
    • Will conduct awareness campaigns and community outreach to promote health and well-being.
  • Orion – Quality Education (SDG 4)
    • Will develop projects to ensure inclusive and equitable education opportunities and support lifelong learning.
  • Auris – Gender Equality (SDG 5)
    • Will work towards raising awareness on gender equality, reducing discrimination, and promoting equal opportunities.
  • Zenith – Life on Land (SDG 15)
    • Will focus on protecting ecosystems, sustaining biodiversity, and promoting environmental awareness.

Evaluation Criteria and Process

Each Collegium will organize activities, seminars, and awareness projects based on their chosen SDG. They will document their progress and present their final reports to a jury from the Quality and Accreditation Coordination Board on April 30, 2025.

The jury will evaluate projects based on the following criteria:

  • Impact of the Project: Number of people reached, social response, and long-term benefits
  • Creativity and Innovation: Use of unique and engaging methods
  • Organization and Execution: Effective planning and timely implementation
  • Content Quality: Informative, academic, and ethically responsible content
  • Social Media and Community Engagement: The project’s visibility and outreach through social and digital platforms

Based on the jury’s evaluation, all Collegiums will be ranked according to their performance and earn points accordingly. The most impactful project will receive the highest points, while other Collegiums will also be awarded points based on their ranking.

As Near East University Faculty of Dentistry, we support our students in developing projects that create social impact and wish success to all Collegiums!
