Knowledge, Intelligence, and Team Spirit: Collegium Dentalis Quiz Show Lit Up the Stage

Organized under the Collegium Dentalis system conducted by the Faculty of Dentistry at Near East University, the General Knowledge Quiz Show took place on April 16, 2025, at the University’s Atatürk Culture and Congress Center (AKKM). The event drew significant interest from students, with teams formed to represent four different collegiums taking the stage.

With questions spanning diverse fields such as science, art, sports, literature, history, geography, and cinema, students had the opportunity to both test their knowledge and earn points for their collegiums. Comprising four students each, the teams demonstrated their concentration, strategy, teamwork, and quick thinking skills, offering an engaging experience for the audience.

The competition also attracted great attention from our academic staff, PhD students, and faculty members from other departments. Distinguished participants included Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Adile Öniz Özgören, Vice Deans Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gonca İnanç and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Hoca, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Nursing Assoc. Prof. Dr. Burcu Totur Dikmen, and members of the University Quality and Accreditation Board including Prof. Dr. Fezile Özdamlı and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ayşe Arıkan Sarıoğlu, who honored the event with their presence and support.

The preparation and evaluation process of the quiz questions was carried out with the contributions of esteemed faculty members from our faculty. The jury panel, consisting of Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Umut Aksoy, Vice Deans Prof. Dr. Sevcan Kurtulmuş Yılmaz and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özay Önöral, Prof. Dr. Güney Yılmaz, and Prof. Dr. Seçil Aksoy, provided guidance throughout the process regarding question selection, content balance, and assessment criteria.

A Thrilling Final Between Auris and Orion

The final stage of the competition witnessed an intense showdown between Auris and Orion. After answering an equal number of correct responses in the first 30 questions, the match moved into a tiebreaker round. Even after five additional questions, the tie remained—until one final decisive question determined the winner. By answering correctly, Auris claimed first place, while Orion received praise for their outstanding performance.

Supporting Academic and Social Development

The competition was praised as a meaningful and dynamic event where students showcased their academic knowledge in a social setting, reinforced their sense of teamwork, and engaged in a healthy spirit of competition based on knowledge-sharing. Events integrated into the Collegium Dentalis system continue to support both the individual and collective development of our students.

The quiz was hosted by Asst. Prof. Dr. Dilan Kırmızı and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özay Önöral, whose energetic presence and dynamic presentation brought color and joy to the event. Their engagement with participants and stage chemistry helped create a vibrant and memorable atmosphere throughout the competition.
