NCADS Student Association and 5th Year Dentistry Students Collaborated for Community Oral Health at Algım Special Education Center!

On March 18, 2022, the NCADS Student Association and 5th-year dental students made a special visit to the Algım Special Education Center with the purpose of contributing to community oral health.

The Algım Special Education Center is known for providing education and care services for individuals with special needs. The NCADS and interns conducted this meaningful visit to raise awareness about oral hygiene and to assist the community.

During the visit, the interns, under the guidance of the Department of Pedodontics faculty members, provided oral hygiene education to the students at the special education center. This education covered essential oral health topics, including toothbrushing, flossing, the selection of appropriate mouthwash, and healthy eating habits.

Furthermore, the students conducted oral health screenings to assess the oral health of the special education center students. These screenings aimed to identify oral health issues and facilitate referrals to expert dentists when needed. This practice not only provided clinical experience to the students but also offered a unique approach to oral health for individuals with special needs.

The visit made by the NCADS and 5th-year dental students to the Algım Special Education Center is a remarkable example of contributing to community oral health and fostering a sense of community service. Such activities emphasize the broader societal context of dental education while supporting efforts to enhance the oral health of individuals with special needs. This special day provided unforgettable memories and meaningful experiences for both the Algım Special Education Center students and the visiting students, contributing to the development of awareness about community oral health.
