NCADS Student Association and 5th Year Dentistry Students Supported Oral Health at Ece Care and Nursing Home!

On December 22, 2022, a special event took place at the Ece Care and Nursing Home through the collaboration of the NCADS Student Association and 5th-year dental students, making a significant contribution to community oral health. During the event, elderly residents at the nursing home received oral health education and underwent oral health screenings.

Ece Care and Nursing Home is an institution that provides services to the elderly in the community, and oral health is of utmost importance for the quality of life of this population. The NCADS Student Association and 5th-year dental students organized this visit with the aim of addressing this need and serving the community.

During the visit, our interns provided the elderly residents with oral hygiene education, covering essential topics such as toothbrushing, flossing, mouthwash selection, and proper dietary habits, all of which are crucial for maintaining good oral health.

Additionally, the students conducted oral health screenings to assess the oral health of the nursing home residents. These screenings helped identify oral health issues and enabled appropriate referrals to be made to specialist dentists when necessary. This approach not only considered the oral health of the elderly but also provided valuable clinical experience to the students.

The visit by the NCADS Student Association and 5th-year dental students to Ece Care and Nursing Home is regarded as an important step in raising awareness and fostering a sense of responsibility for community oral health. Such activities emphasize the significance of community service as an integral part of dental education while making substantial contributions to enhancing the oral health of the elderly population. This special day created lasting memories and valuable experiences for both the nursing home residents and the students.
