Dr. Özay Önöral initiated his academic journey in 2009, enrolling in the Undergraduate Program of Dentistry at Near East University. Following five years of comprehensive education, he graduated with distinction in 2014, earning the position of valedictorian. Subsequently, he dedicated his focus to the realm of computer-aided manufacturing technologies during his doctoral studies, culminating in the attainment of a Ph.D. degree in Prosthetic Dentistry from the Near East University Health Sciences Institute.

Presently, Dr. Önöral holds the position of Associate Professor in the relevant department and has assumed the role of Vice-Dean of the Dentistry Faculty since 2021. And, he is the head of the Pedodontics Department. In addition to his administrative responsibilities, he serves as the coordinator for both undergraduate and doctoral-level courses pertaining to 3D fabrication technologies. Furthermore, he has actively contributed to the Turkish Cypriot Dental Association, having served as the General Secretary and Scientific Affairs Delegate. Dr. Önöral boasts a prolific academic portfolio with numerous publications in esteemed SCI and SCI-expanded indexed journals. His scholarly contributions span a diverse array of topics, including material science, 3-dimensional printing, additive manufacturing, and subtractive manufacturing.

Notably, he has taken charge of organizing multiple symposiums and congresses focused on the aforementioned subjects. In addition to his editorial roles, Dr. Önöral remains actively engaged as a reviewer for esteemed journals in his field.
