Sevcan Kurtulmuş Yılmaz was born in Istanbul in 1983. She graduated from Bursa Anatolian High School in 2001 and from the Faculty of Dentistry at Ankara University in 2006. She began her PhD studies in the Department of Prosthodontics at the Institute of Health Sciences at Ankara University and continued at Near East University from 2008 onwards. In 2011, she defended her PhD thesis titled "Comparison of Translucency and Color Characteristics of Different Zirconia All-Ceramic Systems" and obtained the PhD degree.

In 2012, she was appointed as an assistant professor at Near East University. In 2015, she was granted the title of associate professor by the Interuniversity Board of Türkiye; in 2021, she was promoted to full professorship. Since June 2017, Prof. Dr. Kurtulmuş Yılmaz has been serving as the Vice Dean at the Faculty of Dentistry at Near East University.

In September 2023, Prof. Dr. Kurtulmuş Yılmaz was appointed as the Director of Quality and Accreditation Coordinatorship at Near East University. Additionally, she serves on the Education Commission of the Council of Deans of Dentistry of Türkiye and Northern Cyprus.

Prof. Dr. Kurtulmuş Yılmaz has numerous articles published in national and internationally indexed journals, as well as presentations and keynote-speeched at various conferences and symposiums. Her academic interests include dental ceramics, implantology, aesthetic dentistry, color science, lasers, and dental education. She is married and has one child.
